In this article, I will be talking about 6 new tweaks that have been introduced for iOS 9 using which you can either get most of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus specific features on your older iPhones, or fix the ones that were made available in iOS 9. Let’s have a look. Note: Wish to jailbreak your iPhone running on iOS 9.0.x? Here’s a detailed guide you can follow.

1. BreadcrumbsAway

On iOS 9, Apple worked on making multitasking easier for everyone and introduced a soft button using which a user can go back to the previous app he has been working on. However, as there is no physical button, unlike most Android phones, the developers have added a soft button at the top left of the screen. Adding soft button is fine, but this one takes away the network and Wi-Fi signal icon spot on the home screen. So if you have migrated from a different app, you can never know if you are connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, which is crucial, especially when you have a limited data plan. BreadcrumbsAway is a nifty Cydia tweak using which you can get back the network icons instead of the Breadcrumbs. The changes made by the tweak is not permanent and that’s a good thing. So you will always have the back to app button at the top left, but just in case you need the network icons, you can slide the back button to the right.

2. RevealMenu

3D Touch, one of the major changes on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus over the previous devices. There is a new pressure sensor added to the phone using which a quick action menu can be invoked for supported apps directly from the home screen. For example, a hard press on the camera app will give you the options to take a selfie or a video directly. As the hardware to measure the pressure is missing on the older iPhones, RevealMenu uses a long tap on the icons. The settings can be configured in settings and haptic feedback can be enabled.

3. Shortcuts

Not every app supports quick actions and that’s where the tweak Shortcuts come into picture. This nifty tweak adds shortcut to apps like Stocks, Weather and Settings. So you can quickly check the weather or the stock price or configure 4 actions to the settings menu. If you are not using iPhone 6s, RevealMenu must be installed for the tweak to work.

4. UniversalForce

Now that we have seen how to get quick actions on the home screen, let’s check out how to get the Peek and Pop feature à la iPhone 6s. Using UniversalForce tweak, you can get the peak feature in the iOS Album app. repo.ioscreatix.com should be added to the Cydia Repo before you can search and download the tweak.

5. UntetheredHeySiri

Siri is now available at your command on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Just say the word ‘Hey Siri’ and you can invoke your personal assistant to help you out. But the feature is limited to old devices only when they are plugged in to a charger. UntetheredHeySiri removes that constraint in the older devices and make Siri available anytime on your voice command. The settings can be configured under General-> Siri.

6. SpotlightBeGone

So they brought the spotlight back and this time even better with Siri suggestions and frequently used apps and contacts. But not everyone might like the change. SpotlightBeGone is a simple tweak that disables the Spotlight section from the Spring Board and makes it like iOS 8 again.

Conclusion

So these were some of the tweaks you can install on jailbroken iOS 9 to get the most out of your phone. I plan to add more to this list when more tweaks are available for iOS 9 and to make sure you don’t miss out on any of them. Subscribe to the thread on our forum.
